Leaders are born and made. There are perspectives on both-few examples as below.

Mahatma Gandhi: Gandhi is often cited as a natural leader due to his extraordinary ability to inspire and mobilize masses with his vision of non-violent resistance. His inherent qualities of empathy, resilience, and moral integrity played a crucial role in his leadership during the Indian independence movement.
Nelson Mandela: Although Mandela possessed inherent leadership qualities, much of his effectiveness as a leader was honed through his experiences and education. His time in prison, for instance, was pivotal in shaping his leadership approach and his ability to negotiate and reconcile with his adversaries.

Leaders can be more long standing when a born leader receives support to hone their skills.
