Uganda views Disability as categorized especially in the two models; Moral model and Medical model. In our communities Disability is more related to witch craft, cult and misfortunes. it is never regarded as a blessing from God and so it is less attributed to Religion. on the other hand, most people especially high profiled ones, think that the medical model would be the solution to disability. it is observed that most of them actually leave in denial having produced a child with disabilities. Interestingly when one acquires disability through injuries such as after getting accidents, people will still perceive it as a witchcraft issue. Hence it is of late that families are exposing their children and family members with disabilities to the public, which was not the case 10 years before. currently Persons with Disabilities are able to access services like education, health among others.

Well, since I am exposed and have knowledge on disability and Persons with Disabilities, the way i perceive persons with disabilities is way different from then when i had no knowledge. I see them as any other ordinary person. However the model i was raised in is the Moral Model. i would see the persons with disabilities as a curse.
