In Uganda rehabilitation services are only at tertiary institutions like district hospital, regional and national referral hospitals. While we see increased burden of non communicable diseases requiring rehabilitation, some districts do not even have government owned district hospitals like Mayuge,Namutumba,Luuka,Buyende and many others.
Most families in Uganda take long to believe that certain disease conditions require rehabilitation and instead resort to herbal medicine and other myths and misconceptions surround them. They resort to seeking for professional rehabilitation services in late stages and most times the results are poor or even death.
Most rehabilitation Units in the country at district and regional hospitals are less equipped and operate in very small spaces hence limiting quality of care.
