Moral Model: With the increasing knowledge, this model is not that strong in Tanzania especially in the city and towns. Still, in rural areas there are still beliefs that associate disability with evil spirits hence requiring deliverances prayers. It is not uncommon to find persons with disability seeking solutions from traditional healers of churches/prophets
Medical Model: This is the commonest in which healthcare has invested more into preventing, diagnosing and treating the disease…identifying the pathology and addressing it by proven scientific means to heal the body structures and restore its physiological function normally at cellular level
Social Model: New but fast growing in Tanzania is the transformation of health system to realize the consequence of the disease beyond the impairment. There is more and more awareness by the healthcare providers to include rehabilitation professionals such as occupational therapists and social worker in addressing the physical and social environment in the rehabilitation of persons with various forms of disability. However, such approach has not taken significant coverage.
